Exploring the Route: Leg 1

Sailing French Polynesia

Sailing Mexico

Leg 1: from Mexico to Tahiti halfway across the pacific ocean

This is the first half of our adventure across the Pacific Ocean in 2025

Exploring the Route

1. From Mexico to the Galapagos Islands

The first leg of the voyage takes the crew through one of the world’s most renowned marine reserves: the Galapagos Islands. Situated off the coast of Ecuador, this archipelago is known for its extraordinary biodiversity. On this leg, crew members will be able to explore the islands, swim with sea lions, snorkel alongside giant tortoises, and witness breathtaking volcanic landscapes.

2. The Remote Pitcairn Islands

One of the highlights of the first leg is visiting Pitcairn Island, one of the world’s most isolated inhabited islands. With a population of less than 50 people, Pitcairn offers a rare opportunity to engage with a community steeped in history, being the last settlement of the Mutiny on the Bounty. The island’s dramatic cliffs and lush greenery add to the remoteness and mystery that defines this stop.

3. French Polynesia and the Society Islands

The second leg of the trip from Pitcairn onward ventures into French Polynesia, which includes the renowned Society Islands like TahitiBora Bora, and Mo’orea. French Polynesia is synonymous with paradise, boasting crystal-clear lagoons, dramatic volcanic mountains, and vibrant coral reefs. Beyond the scenery, visitors can immerse themselves in Polynesian culture, from traditional dance performances to savoring local cuisine.

Crew members will spend time on both bustling and remote islands, where activities range from exploring local markets to diving and snorkeling in rich underwater ecosystems. The coral atolls of the Tuamotus offer some of the world’s best diving opportunities.

Exploring the Route

4. Crossing to Tonga and Fiji

Further along the route, the crew will sail into the Kingdom of Tonga, a place where whales migrate during certain months. Tonga is known for its deep-rooted Polynesian culture and welcoming spirit. Here, sailors will enjoy more opportunities for snorkeling, kayaking, and learning about the island’s traditional ways of life.

Fiji, famous for its reefs and rugged coastline, is another magical stop. With over 300 islands, Fiji offers both adventure and serenity, from village visits to private coves for swimming. Fiji’s abundant marine life also makes it a haven for scuba divers and nature lovers.

5. The Marshall Islands and Palau

As NEPTUN draws closer to the western Pacific, the crew will explore the Marshall Islands, home to pristine lagoons and an array of WWII wrecks submerged beneath its waters. The islands are teeming with vibrant coral gardens and rich marine biodiversity, making it a top spot for diving enthusiasts.

Finally, the voyage reaches Palau, the last stop of the expedition. Palau is a renowned destination for its unparalleled underwater beauty, particularly the famous Rock Islands. Palau’s preservation efforts have created a sanctuary for both wildlife and eco-tourism, where visitors can swim in the famous Jellyfish Lake and snorkel through pristine reefs. The cultural richness and environmental commitment of Palau make it a fitting end to the journey.
